Notes:
The area around Rosemount was first settled by Quakers and was known as Hickory Grove. A store and post office stood across the road from the present church and cemetery. The Quakers sold the settlement to a German group about 1870. Early records show that these German Catholics attended church at St.Joseph's at Bauer in Marion County for many years before their church was built.

The church building was erected in 1872 and cost $2,500. Later the school building was erected and was dedicated July 4, 1884. Original members of the Catholic Church, St.Mary's of Petual Help, were Michael Ripperger, John Keller, Fred Sommers, Joseph Zimmermannm, Peter Heller, Joseph Dittmer, John Stoph, and Jacob Steger.

Rosemount consists of the church, the cemetery, the school and convent and the parish rectory. Land was donated for the church and cemetery by Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Steger in 1871.
